Magazines Part 2
Early magazine covers started out as just a table of contents. Later they were modeled to look like the covers of books. There wasn't any information about what was inside the magazine itself. Cover lines were magazines that would have articles on the front. The poster cover had an image with a logo and they looked like oversized magazines. The majority of the cover was focused on the image or art. In the late 1800s, cover lines first appeared and became very common, to draw the reader to read the magazine. The cover lines appear in contrasting type and colors. in the 1960s the large print started appearing, for example "Vogue". Magazine covers later on, started focus more on the intensity of photos mixed with loud colors. Cover lines and cover art became equally as important in the 21st century. The majority of covers use cover lines and vivid colors, while very rarely they are without.
